Privacy and Confidentiality
When accepting an invitation, you must understand and agree to your obligations regarding confidential information. Privacy and confidentiality are paramount in NHMRC peer review processes (including during the Assessment Review Stage). Members are appointed under the NHMRC Act and are expected to conduct themselves in a manner consistent with being an office holder of the Commonwealth, including in relation to confidentiality and privacy. Peer reviewers are reminded that they have ongoing confidentiality obligations, as outlined in the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research.
In 2026 applications will be reviewed in one of two peer review cycles (PRC). The peer review process extends over several months, including a panel meeting held for one or two days depending on the number of applications:
